Farakka water release: FFWC assures no risk of flooding in Bangladesh for the next 7 days.
The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) stated today that there's no risk of flooding in the Ganges basin over the next seven days, despite the opening of all Farakka barrage gates. Sarder Uday Raihan, FFWC's executive engineer, reported a 7 cm rise in the Ganga River (Padma River in Bangladesh) at Chapainawabganj in the last 24 hours, with water levels still 150 cm below danger levels. No water rise was observed at Hardinge Bridge, and water levels at Farakka remain steady.
